Want your event or happy hour posted? Send me the information & pictures, or..... invite the camera man :-)

Tumbleweed burn day, March 13, 2009

We received a burn permit to get rid of the dead vegetation and tumbleweeds piled all along the North retention basin. A lot of residents turned out. Thank you to all that came with gloves, shovels and rakes. Sorry I didn't get pictures of the rest of the crew. There was no wind, a very slight breeze blew to the north, away from our residents.

2 teams of rakers (The Rakers), raked all the weeds into small piles along the basin. Then came along (The Burners). We lit the pile and watched the fire, cleaned it up when it was out and moved on to the next pile. Pictures are of (The Burners) at the last fire at the Northwest end of the retention basin.

We called the fire department at 8 am telling them we had started and called them again at 10 am letting them know we were done and the last fire was out. Next year we hope to control the weeds by spraying and advising residents not to throw yard debris over the back wall.

Spaghetti Dinner, March 7, 2009

As a fund raiser for the clubhouse we held a spaghetti dinner. We served 61 residents and guests. We all enjoyed spaghetti that simmered all day in Terri's kitchen, hot garlic bread, tossed salad, and an ice cream dessert made by Bonnie Stocker. Thanks to the cooks, Terri Massood, Bonnie Stocker, Joyce Meakins, Carole Threlkel and their helpers Bob Meakins and Art Massood.

The weather (64 degrees., 21% humidity) allowed us to utilize our outdoor eating area. The committee thankes all of the people who helped set up on Friday and then clean up Saturday evening. Lots of folks pitched in!! Members of the community loaned chairs and tables to accommodate our dinner guests.

The dinner made a profit of $262. The committee will use that money and the ice cream social money to purchase some padded folding chairs for our club house. I tried to get pictures of all those at the dinner, some turned out well, some not. Sorry if your picture isn't here. The amount of pictures is also somewhat restricted by space.

A Potluck Dinner in February 2009

Here we are enjoying good company and a potluck dinner. A warm Saturday evening gave us the chance to eat outdoors. There is no "sign up" so it is always a surprise to see who all will be joining us and what we will be having for dinner. We seem to have anywhere from 6 to 20 + show up. Bring a dish and come to the clubhouse at 5:00 PM.

Neighborhood Clean Up Day - Feb. 2009

Thanks to all that turned out for our neighborhood cleanup day. By my count about 30 residents turned out. I didn't get pictures of everyone. Besides our residents we also had Pat Kaniscar from PMG and her husband. Also helping us was a great crew of about 7 from Epifini Landscaping. We raked, shoveled, trimmed, pulled, pruned and swept it all up at the end.
